How to dilute yourself in 700 easy steps.

I went to a bar in Bricklane yesterday, there was free internet, so I browsed Bachue and toured the blogs.

I was thinking of places to go on the Net, but I couldn't think of any.

So, out of the blue, i decided to go to www.soho.com.co, and watch tha ladizz titis.
And then it hit me. I used to go to Semana every week. I used to read the online edition completely, from beginning to end. I even used to read the first pages of El Tiempo, I could have told you the exchange rate every day of the week.

At some point I remember that I was having less and less time to go on the internet, and then, i was reading some other news sites, mostly german like spiegel, or zeit.de and so on.
Now in the uk, I have a similar feeling, I spend less and less time on German sites, mostly because I work like a pig right now, but then I have to go to the bbc to see what is happening.

The day the bombs exploded I was just getting to work, when my boss said there had been some power surges on the tube, then it became clear that it was terrorism. The next day I had an appointment in Germany, so I had to fly that evening.
It was a nightmare to get to the airport, nothing was running, everything stopped. I was able to get the only running train to Luton.

I started to remember how it was when the bombs were exploding in Colombia. I particulary remember the bomb close to Colpatria, that bang (actually two bombs exploding within minutes of each other), that Mushroom Cloud of black smoke lifting parallel to the tower. People swearing to the top of their lungs, screaming, and also staring in disbelief.
The stories about limbs falling on the roofs of houses.
More recently the bomb from El Nogal, or the gas cylinders killing the people seeking protection in the church.

I wonder how many other countries live in a similar situation, only to never be reported anywhere else, suffering without their plight being ever heard. "Geteiltes Leid is halbes Leid", means shared suffering is only half a suffering. We know about the war on Africa, and situation in Palestina, but there is so much we don't know.

Yesterday I went to the Speaker's corner in Hyde Park. There were lots of people talking about religion, and the sort of clowns that you would expect, "excentrics", as they would call them, but it's amazing how much sense some of them make, while others sound like puppets, repeating over and over ... the islam this, the islam, that, or ... chistianity this, christianity that.

The exercise of power means that you are not only in control of your own life, but you can to a significant extent control the life of others, and what has sometimes lead me to wonder if climbing the management ladder is not the first step on going to hell. I can well imagine the devil driving a luxury bus, picking up all the managers on their way to hell.

I was reading an article the other day about Capitalism and Globalisation, and basically what they described was a system that was unstable by design, that either turns into it's creators, and whose laws are supposed to be valid as if they were natural, or a really intrincate conspiracy sharing the characteristics of a totalitarian regime.

I, of course, tend to favor the later view, which looks much like the system I described in the post from the 02/07.
