Forget about everything I have written, for I have seen the light. (And it costs $100.000 EUR)
I had to go to Amsterdam Schiphol to fly to Stockholm, Monday Morning, 7 am. I went to Sixt to pick up the car that my office left me, because they are closed on Sundays at this particular station, I had to pick the car Saturday in the morning, around 11am.
So there I was.
I gave my license to the guy behind the counter, and he took out a set of keys, looked at me, looked at the keys, then looked at me again, then looked at the keys again, and finally handed them over to me. I instantly remembered one black and white TV ad. A man is driving a precious BMW through a beatiful landscape, and he is crying, he drives, and he cries. And then he steps out and goes to a woman, and the woman has a really understanding attitude, he gives the car keys to the woman, and then you can see that the woman is behind a car rental counter. Then, a voice in off says something like, "We know that it is hard to part from some things - BMW Weekend special for 120 Euros".
Anyway, I went to the underground garage and looked for the car, but I couldn´t find it, so I pressed the unlock button. And this is what blinked:
I felt like a Bacteria boarding an alien spaceship.
I drove it through a narrow street and the cars at the end, at the middle, everywhere, moved as closest as possible to the left side, and they stood still, they didn't breath, they were scared to death.
People in the street, look at you with anger, and women look at you, it´s like instant sex appeal.
I drove next to a bus, and the funny thing is that, from a car like this, other people really do look like loosers.
I had to pick up my ticket, so I went to the autobahn and the thing did 220 without even blinking, people getting out of your way running in fear, their little cars already struggling around 160. Loosers.
It really is hard to describe this feeling of power, that makes you want more and more, and possess this little piece of engineering crafted by either a higher power, or satan itself.
This made me think about a lot of things, like the kleinbürgerliche pleasures of first class traveling, and 5 star hotels.
Nah, actually I had no time to loose so I went to party on with it.
